Panel One 2018: Sho Uehara Reflects on his Wordless Comic, Repose
The following interview was recorded, and written by Chris Doucher, Managing Editor for GeekNerdNet. (GeekNerdNet.com is the Official Media Sponsor of the 2018 Panel One Comic Creator Festival)
At the 2018 Panel One Comic Creator Festival after party I spoke with a fine fellow, and wicked artist, Sho Uehara. His latest book, Repose, is a wordless comic that's absolutely beautiful, and tells a story about the monkey king, and his wild card nature. Sho talks about his process on the book, and how in just one night he frantically drew thumbnails as the story started to come together for him, and six to seven months later he was completed the book, including pencils, colours, inks, and even the packaging of the book itself. He opens up about the solitary creative process, and how he reached out to other creators to bounce ideas off of, and shake off that feeling like you’re slowing down in the middle of a marathon.
