Canadian comic book writer George Michail (Cover of Darkness) and I got together (virtually) to talk about his super-cool new book, Resilient, illustrated by Vinz El Tabanas, and published by Absolute Comics. It’s listed in the current issue (pg. 228) of PREVIEWS #392 , so get to your local comic shop, and order this series, which includes some very cool variants. And, if exclusive covers are your thing, then you must check out the Resilient Kickstarter campaign—on now until May 13, 2021. Michail gives us the rundown on what the book is about:
“Resilient is a comic book about a woman who loses her arms, and it’s about her recovery and coming to terms with her situation. Along the way she gets these bad-ass cybernetic robotic arms, and finds herself in a situation where she needs to rescue her husband from gangsters. Judo teacher, robot arms, she’s got a katana, too. It’s an action adventure story full of carnage, guts, blood, and fun times.“
Michail talks about why the story means so much to him, and how his recoveries from major injuries, when he was younger, influenced this story. He also sheds light on how the book came to be, his epic convention year in 2019, his YouTube series (INSIDE COMICS), and how the pandemic has effected him. Okay, no time to waste. Go ahead and watch my interview with George Michail.
