Creator and writer, John Fleming and I caught up earlier this year at Calgary Expo 2025, and we chatted about his book MURDER, DIE, SENPAI. (Note: My apologies to John because in our recorded interview, I accidentally called his book: “Murder, Death, Senpai.” Oops! Sorrrry!)
This latest release by Fleming is about a sorceress who’s a student and summons a world-consuming elder evil. And as Fleming says:
“It's like Galactus…with Sweet Tooth and ADHD…she's unkillable, unbeatable but highly distractible.”
The one reveal Fleming gave me is what happens in the book is what happens until she decides to destroy the world. This is one comic I can get behind because it sounds absolutely amazing and unhinged, which is everything I want in a comic book—along with the world ending. Cool. Upon further discussion about it, it’s definitely a book and a story which sounds ominous. I cannot wait to read the first issue and you shouldn't either. Fleming has a history of telling amazing stories. If you have not seen the BADASSICAL series which he and his partner Colette Turner created, you should really go back and take a look at that series and see if you can get your hands on it because they are a gem. Fleming goes more into his creative process and how his books come together, the release date timing, as well as the fan base which follows from series to series.
At the time of our chat, Fleming teased about a new project in the works. But NOW, it has a name I can reveal: MANY BUNNY BLACK. Sounds cool, right? Right! You should definitely take a look at because it looks absolutely killer. Check out the MANY BUNNY BLACK Kickstarter after you’ve hit play on the interview below. Enjoy!
P.S.: You can find John Fleming and Collette Turner at the 2025 Edmonton Expo: September 19 - 21, 2025.
