When told it was the 15th anniversary of Calgary Expo, writer and comic creator Conor McCreery stood up taller (because he’s actually quite tall—ahem), and his chest puffed out at the realization at what a great year (2022) it was to be back in Calgary for one of Canada’s largest comic and pop culture events. I’m very luck to have gotten to know McCreery over the years because he’s a super funny and nice guy. Plus, talented. All to say, when you see him at an event, make time to talk to him and learn about his work. In the meantime, allow me to give you a bit of background on what he’s been up to. I love his long-running, popular, creator-owned series Kill Shakespeare which went on to produce four volumes, a game and even a live theatre show. McCreery promises volumes six and seven is planned and they do know where the series is going and where it will end, so stay tuned. One of his more recent hits is a series called The Last Witch, and if you want to learn more about it, have a read and a listen to our interview dedicated to this hit comic published via BOOM! Studios’ award-winning BOOM! Box imprint.

Another very cool project he’s working on is called Future Now, and it takes a look into the world of 2084. The story and world-building they’re doing sounds pretty damn cool. You really should check it out. He recently also launched a new comic, Trickster, with co-writer Neil Gibson and series artist, Veronica Saraceno. It’s about a leprechaun, Rory, as he makes his way around the human world. And, on a convention and travel note, we may someday learn the full story behind why a broken toilet turned into McCreery bringing the WebSan Solutions Inc. banner to this year’s show. In fact, to hear more on that, as well as all his great work, hit play and listen to our interview now. Thanks for yet another fantastic interview, Sir Conor McCreery.
