Late summer 2019, comic book illustrator and writer, Nick Johnson, was getting ready for his big move to Scotland with his super-cool girlfriend and their feline family member. This interview took place a few days before he was set to move away from his hometown of Calgary, Alberta (Canada). At the time. Nick and I referred to our meet-up as the post-post-post Panel One Comic Creator Festival interview, as it took place a couple of months after that show. Fun times! And speaking of fun times, Nick Johnson is all about that. As you’ll hear when you listen to the full audio interview (below). Not only is this guy funny, he knows his away around the comic book scene and has created some incredible works over the years. Johnson gives us the goods on his comic: Life Is A Short Dream - a comic he wrote, illustrated and published in just three short weeks. Was it an ambitious goal on his part?
Well, that question was never specifically asked by me, but I know he’d say yes to that. Johnson details the process of what it’s like to burn the candle on both ends to get this labour of love out the door, just in time for the 2019 Panel One show. And, of course, we talk about his big move across the pond to Scotland, and what he’s doing there and why. It’s all pretty fantastic stuff. I mean, it’s Nick Johnson, so you’re in for a treat.
